As a Winnipeg interior decorator, one of my most favorite events of the year would have to be the Kitchen, Bath and Renovation Show, held each January at the Winnipeg Convention Center.

Giuliana holds one of her nearly finished art pieces custom painted for one of her clients.

I have been working hard over the last couple of months gathering materials and designing the 2015 Ask A Decorator designer room for the KBR show.  As I have mentioned in earlier blogs, it takes months of preparation prior to each show to ensure that every last detail is taken care of prior to the event.

This year, I am designing the room around the latest trends in home design.  The current trends are all about brilliant gem colors such as blue with pops of orange, statement pieces such as lighting, and large pieces of art.

Because of these trends I have asked local artist Giuliana Grande to collaborate with me in the creation of this years Ask A Decorator designer room for the show.  You may have seen some of Giuliana’s work before, especially if you frequent one of the best Italian restaurants in Winnipeg, Mona Lisa.

Giuliana is the daughter of Joe and Alfina Grande, owners of Mona Lisa.  Anyone who has visited the restaurant will find it hard to miss the beautiful artwork that hangs from the walls of the restaurant.  From the first moment I saw Giuliana’s work I fell in love.  I loved her choice of beautiful bright colors and her style.

So it was only natural for me to ask her if she was interested in doing a large piece of art for my designer room for the show.  Especially when Giuliana’s style and use of color were a perfect fit for this years trends.

IMG_2511When it comes to creating the art for this years show, I have asked Giuliana to be very color specific.  To be successful Giuliana’s art will  need to coordinate with this years paint, fabric, lighting, furnishings, and flooring selected for this years designer room.  Pictured to the left are the wood floor, dining set sample, and fabrics that will be present in the designer room.  If you are reading this blog and are having a hard time finding that special piece of art that will coordinate well with the rest of your decor, you might consider having Giuliana create a custom piece for your home.

If you are interested in seeing more of Giuliana’s work please visit her web site by clicking here, or pay a trip to Mona Lisa Ristorante Italiano located at 1697 Corydon.

Please check my blog again to see how Giuliana’s art progresses from blank canvas to a finished statement piece for this years Kitchen, Bath, and Renovation show’s Ask  A Decorator designer room.

A special mention also about Curtis Carpets andWinnipeg interior decorator Robinson Lighting,  who have been kind enough to sponsor this years Ask a Decorator designer room.  Thanks to the generosity of both retailers, my designer room, will feature a beautiful laminate floor from Curtis Carpets, and a statement lighting piece from Robinson Lighting.  The lighting will be in this years hottest trend gold.  Also present will be a  beautiful dining table, and custom window coverings from Inclusive Design House.
