As a Winnipeg interior decorator, I thought it would be benificial to take a home staging course to assist those clients wanting to make the transition from one home to another. I work for a lot of clients who wish to stay in their homes for a while, but at some point want to move into smaller places. So when we decorate it is sometimes this transition that we have in mind. Keeping things neutral, uncluttered, and floors consistent throughout. So in December of 2010 I flew out to Calgary to take a home staging course offered by the Canadian Home Stagers Association.

As you can tell, cleaning up the space, eliminating clutter, a neutral wall color, some updated pictures and accessories, better positioning of furniture, and displaying nothing personal are key ingredients that make this home marketable. Future home buyers need to imagine their own furnishings and themselves and family living in this space.
