Thank you to everyone who came out to visit Winnipeg interior decorator Sherri Cowlthorp and the Inclusive Design 2015 Ask a Decorator designer room at the Kitchen Bath and Renovation Show.
I would like to extend special thanks to my helpers Julie, Lindsay, and Tom. Could not have done this with out your help.
This years room was all about the trends of 2014. Yes, I know its a year behind, but unfortunately trends and colors for 2015 were not made public until December of 2014. Which is typical for any year. Planning for each KBR show begins at least 6 months prior, not allowing me time to introduce the colors and trends for the new year.
Reviewing the trends for 2014:
- The year was all about gem stone colors and the beautiful blue wall colour, and the orange drapery certainly did well in this respect.
- Large statement art pieces were all the rage in 2014, and Giuliana Grande exceeded expectations with her custom artwork created especially for the show.
- Statement light fixtures were another trend in 2014 and Robinson Lighting provided a beautiful gold chandelier for the room.
- No longer are floors a solid colour. The latest trend in flooring is focused on easy living. This floor donated by Curtis Carpets is not solid in colour, but has highs and lows which makes it difficult to notice lint or dust. This means easy maintenance for the home owner.
Thanks again to my sponsors, Curtis Carpets, Robinson Lighting, and Mona Lisa Ristorante Italiano. Special thanks also to Giuliana Grande for all the time and hard work that she put into creating a custom art piece for the designer room. For anyone who is interested, Giuliana’s work can be found on the walls of her family’s restaurant, Mona Lisa. If you are looking for a custom art work for your home I highly recommend contacting Giuliana.
